Here Are Some Tips To Save Gas

April 26th, 2008

by Michael Baker

With the ever increasing cost of gas, we can all use a few tips to save gas. Here are a few things you can start doing right now to help out.

Savings of upwards of 20% are not unheard of if you just take an active role in managing your gas.

Or, the other way to look at it, would be that you can increase your gas mileage by 20%. Sounds far fetched? Not really. It is more possible than ever these days.

Today, you can begin by just slowing down. When you drive the speed limit, you are already saving gas. Plus, you really do not get anywhere that much faster, and it is safer. So, I guess there could be 3 reasons for this one.

Second, make sure the gas cap is on tight. If it is loose, you will end up with too much oxygen in the tank, which will cause more gas to be left over after the engine uses it. This is a real simple fix. Just make sure the gas cap is on pretty tight after each fill up. I always ensure my cap clicks once.

Third, put some air in your tires. Your car or truck tires are designed to operate at an optimal air pressure. You can find this air pressure rating on the side of the tire. At least once a month, you should check the air pressure in the tires, and ensure it is filled up to the designed air pressure. This saves wear on the tires, and also keeps the car going straight. Which means, the car does not need to work as hard to keep it straight, which means less gas.

The most uninformed habit out there by millions is buying super unleaded fuel. There is no need in this. I really don’t care what the car manuals tell you, your car runs just as efficiently on regular unleaded as it does super unleaded. This change alone will save you 5-6% in gas.

These are just a few of the things you can start doing to save gas or increase your gas mileage. There are many more tips to save gas out there. I would suggest looking for and implementing as many of them as you can. The gas prices will only keep increasing.

The Best Way to Buy Used Vehicles from Government Auctions

April 24th, 2008

by Mark Allen

Can you really buy cheap used cars and trucks at Government Auctions? The short answer is: Yes. In fact, it is not that unusual to find decent used vehicles for just a few hundred dollars. In fact, thousands are sold every day.

If you’re looking to buy cars at a government auction and get the best deal, then there are some things you need to know about. In this article we will discuss both the positives and negatives of government auctions. I will offer to use some long-term strategy which should pay off time and time again because it will teach you how to purchase cars and find the truly best deals from Government auctions.

In Government Auctions as in so many things in life, good things come to those who wait. This means waiting for the right car or truck. It also means waiting for the right bidding atmosphere. If you are over-eager, you can get caught up in bidding wars and pay more than you should. You must be patient, and do the research on the car you want to purchase. You should also be able to effectively “eye test” each car to determine if it runs well or if it’s in bad condition.

The point is this: if your looking for a great deal on a car and you need one right away, you probably aren’t going to find it through Government auctions. This doesn’t mean you can’t get a great deal at Government auctions for your vehicle. I will now give you advice on how to locate and find great deals.

There are loads of high-quality vehicles with low mileage available at Government auctions, and they are always priced well under market value. Also, these are “fleet” vehicles used by various government agencies, and you won’t find these in any dealership or used car lot.

Government agencies generally take great care in maintaining the condition of their vehicles. Every few years, they sell these vehicles and replace them with newer vehicles, therefore giving you a great deal. These “fleet sales” are liquidated through the various Government auctions.

Also, sometimes getting the best deal out of car auctions requires more than one transaction. For example, if you find a great deal on a car, you can purchase it and then resell it yourself for a profit. You probably won’t be able to sell it right away, but if you can wait on it and sell it a month or two later and turn a nice profit, how many times would you do this? This is another benefit of buying through Government car auctions.

In conclusion, the people who are most profitable by using government car auctions are those who are patient. They patiently wait to find the best deals on good cars, and they often have another strategy besides just the initial purchase. Government auctions are where you can get the greatest deals if you know how to do it. Follow the principles given in this article, and you’ll be well on your way.
