How to Keep Your Sports Car Looking New

May 25th, 2008

by Warren Scott

Many times when buying a sports car you have spent all of your savings, or at least the most money that you could possibly spend. We want the nicest, fastest car that money can buy. It is all too important to remember that this car which is incredibly powerful and sophisticated must be maintained. This isn’t an area where you want to skimp on as the maintenance of your sports car can protect your investment.

Tune up - These high performance machines are highly sophisticated and can be very sensitive. Thus and the fact that you might not drive your sports car on a daily basis this aspect can’t be overlooked. Basic things such as the rotary cap, spark plugs, battery, etc. can be very important. If you want your sports car to drive like a well oiled machine you must keep it a well oiled machine.

Overall check up - Just as important as your engine is the rest of the moving parts involved in your car. The tires, shocks, steering system, etc are things that need regular checking as well. Especially if you park your car for the winter months you will need to have it serviced before hand. Likewise you need to get these major moving parts serviced before you get your sports car out for the summer.

Insurance policy - Do not neglect this significant aspect of preserving your sport car. Because we merely drive the car a little we believe that the chance of an accident is almost non existent. This is not accurate and adept automobile insurance is a must if you’re planning to drive a high end sport car. Could you envision experiencing a fender bender and not having the policy to get it restored?

DRIVE - Many times regular use alone can maintain your sports car the best. Don’t forget that your sport car is a super powerful car just like an expensive racehorse. Imagine if the racehorse never got out of the horse barn except on race day? It wouldn’t run very well would it? This is also applicable to your sport car. Therefore enjoy your car and drive it as often as thinkable. Don’t just take it out on the weekend; drive it to work during the workweek. Go on live a bit! You have dreamed about it for a long time so live your dream and have fun!

I hope that you enjoyed this article. I know that merely thinking about my dream car makes me want to get out there to the coming car exhibit and see what is available. I hope you do the same and keep dreaming till that day that you have your very own sport car to drive during the summertime.

Reasons Why Your Classic Automobile Should Have A Car Cover

Vintage automobiles are a source of pride for car collectors who are taking care of them. Everybody likes to look at these old classic cars at the car shows with a sense of nostalgia. To look at a antique automobile is almost like taking a time-travel machine back to that point in history. People remember their early years, and it gives them a good feeling. They seem to almost give a feeling of euphoria to people who see the car that they used to drive as a teenage live in person. When a car has a like-new shine, a big factor is usually a classic car cover.

Classic car covers are vital to properly maintaining a classic car. Think about it. It is not always easy get a classic fixed back to its original luster if something happens to it. It simply is not easy to go back to the way it was.

A great place to discover classic car covers are in online car forums. Often times you will encounter people who can tell you where to find just the particular car cover your model car needs. It’s usually not hard to find companies on the Internet that sell classic car covers for the most commonly owned classic cars. It just takes looking around for the best company. One of the top websites that I have found is ClassicCarCover.com and ClassicCarCocoon.com. but there are several other sites on the web, I am sure.

Car covers keep the dirt and ground and moisture from accumulating on your cars outer body surface. When these things collect on your car, corrosion can take place. That is the nightmare of the classic car owner. The paint job, chrome, trim, and other parts of the car’s exterior can be susceptible to corrosion. The first line of defense is the car cover acting as a barrier.

First thing to think about is where do you plan to store this car? The environment that the car will be exposed to is paramount to how you shop for a car cover. There is a big difference in me type of car cover necessary for a car left outside as opposed to one being garage kept. The fabrics are different, as well as the required properties of protection. It is true in the old adage that says “You get what you pay for.” so don’t go cheap.

Especially in outdoor situations, water resistance is very important, but it is not the only thing. You must make absolutely sure that the fabric is breathable. This is because moisture will accumulate from condensation between the material and the car body. Bad news! So don’t be a redneck… please don’t go out to Wal-Mart and buy a blue tarp and pitch it on top of your classic show car! You’ll live to regret it if your car is worth much.

Softness in the fabric is very important. You definitely do not want your paint job to be scuffed by a rough material that is dragged over your priceless vintage vehicle. It would be enough to make a grown man cry to see a beautiful paint job ruined, especially an original paint job!

According to wherever you keep your classic, you will also want to look at the thickness of the classic car cover material. There are car covers with multiple layers that are very soft and thick, which provide protection from minor dings and scratches in the body. Often these types of covers will be very expensive, but well worth the money in my opinion. An ounce of prevention is worth much more than a pound of cure.

Finally, if all efforts fail, you need to seek out somebody who makes car covers professionally and have one custom prepared for your vintage automobile. The costs may be higher than what you expected for the high quality cover, but the rewards are far greater!

Car Care Tips for those who care

May 10th, 2008
by Ricardo Daryans

Let’s face it, some folks derive immense pleasure from getting down on their knees and scrubbing away at their wheels with a toothbrush. What’s more, there are people who actually get into changing their own oil, swapping out air filters and even think it’s cool to add fluids to those enigmatic holes positioned all over their engines.

If you are in the other side of this crowd, you don’t give a second thought about car care and can’t wash your car if your life depends on it. You really like taking care of your car? maybe this article is not for you, but take a look at the offers we give you to keep up with your hobby.

However, if you’re in the later group of grimy, clunking vehicle owners, this article is written to scare you clean and tune you up. To get your motivation running, let’s hit you where you’ll feel it the most. No, not there, get your head out of the gutter. We’re talking about your wallet.

Do you realize that your lack of car care is going to cost cash money? Those Blue Book values that you drool over at trade-in or selling time are based on vehicles that have not been neglected. Not giving your car a bath on a regular basis is neglect. Not changing your oil according to a schedule is neglect. And, “neglect” translates to less money when it time to move on to a new ride. The good news is, with a few minor tweaks to your regular car care routine, you can whip your vehicle into re-sale shape in no time.

Be warned: this suggestions are not the best practice, but what will work for those of us that can’t really devote ourselves to vehicle maintenance. First, let’s do a little cleaning. Take your car to a car wash. Touchless is the best option, but if your car is in really bad shape, any gas station wash will have to do. It just to get the first layer of dirt off it.

Then, find yourself one of those parking lot detailers. For $10-$40, you get your vehicle looking pretty sharp. Plus, if there is a real problem with your exterior, such as paint oxidation, swirling, or fading, the detailer may have a solution like clay bars, rubbing compounds and even touch-up paint. Keep in mind, those extra services will cost a bit more.

Also, remember to clean up the interior a bit. Beleive me, your friends and family will thank you. When you are done, you will be pleseantly surprised how good your car can look. So far no work. Just getting to the car wash and spending a little to get your car looking in a good shape.

Next, the big step in the car care conundrum - going under the hood. Of course, you’re not going there, and here’s why, it’s cheaper and easier to pay the guy at the quick change oil place to do your dirty work. If you find a reputable place, they’ll get you fixed up in a jiffy (no pun intended). They can perform many services at a reasonable cost.

You can be sure they’ve seen worse, so don’t be embarrased whey they show your battery terminals reduced to some flaky, white gunk. They may offer to change your air filter (good for improving gas mileage), or they may offer to “flush the cooling system” or “replace the transmission oil”, etc. Your car may need it, but be careful you don’t spend a lot here because they see you as a sucker. Just my experience.

Now, with a little car car your ride is looking and running like you never thought it could. You will no longer be embarrased to be seeing in it. Your next date will be surprised and you will be proud.

Do you like that? Would you like to keep it that way? It’s really quite simple, just follow the steps mentioned earlier, wash it and get the oil changed every-once-in-a-while. Once car care becomes a regular practice and then a habit, it’s not so bad. You might even start venturing out by adding custom aftermarket accessories such as an air intake, seat covers or even an exhaust system.

Just remember that a little care care will pay for itself.
